Pisac: Chaska Wasi Hotel

For the majority of the program, STRIVErs will stay in our “home-base” in the Chaska Wasi Hotel in Pisaq, Peru. Situated in the heart of a small mountain town, the hotel has beautiful rooms and facilities, including free wifi, wonderful common areas (like the courtyard shown, left), meditation rooms, and a kitchen, all while maintaining the authentic Peruvian charm of the Andes. STRIVE students will be housed at the Chaska Wasi Hotel in double or triple rooms with full bathrooms with hot water.

On The Trek

Accommodation along the trails consists of two person tents, which are put up and taken down each day by the group’s guides and porters.  All of the other camp supplies, including cooking utensils, tents, and supplies, are brought and carried by the group’s guides, cook and carrying team – either horses/donkeys or porters. Students on STRIVE hikes only need to carry a small day-pack for water, camera, any snacks, and room to take off extra layers.

On the penultimate night of the trip, STRIVE participants will spend a final night in the ancient city of Cusco, just minutes off the beautiful Plaza de Armas – the city’s main square. Sleeping here will be dormitory style, with STRIVE-only rooms divided by gender.

Students will spend one night with their Group Leaders in Lima at a comfortable hotel near the airport, before an early morning flight to Cusco. The hotel has dormitory style rooms of 3-5 beds to which students will be assigned by gender.
