STRIVE-Center: Current Status

IMG_9029As of this writing the Center is currently offering after-school English and Art classes three times per week, all year round.  Our local teacher on the ground opens up the Center and – with the help of a steady flow of volunteers – teaches English and Art classes to between 10-15 students each day.  Classes are also available to adults in English in the evenings, who want to improve their language skills for work in tourism, business, or many other trades where English is a valuable commodity.

The Center is currently outfitted with two bookshelves and books, multiple tables and chairs, whiteboards and couches for relaxing! Our new space is reserved solely for STRIVE Center activities and is available whenever we need it for classes or community activities.

Our goal is to continue to grow this space as a resource for local students, teachers, and townspeople alike. Already, people have shown great interest in the space and its mission. It is our sincere hope that, once fully realized, the Center will be able to be maintained and staffed entirely by locals and volunteers, with only periodic assistance and funding from STRIVE and other outside organizations.
