Personal growth involves challenge, and every Strive program is planned to place student wellbeing at the center. Our high school trips use structured leadership, clear expectations, thoughtful preparation, and ongoing assessment so students can learn, contribute, and explore with appropriate support.

How We Prepare

Before each program, our team reviews the itinerary, lodging, transportation, activities, community partnerships, and available medical and emergency resources. We also review student information, including dietary, medical, and other support needs, so leaders can prepare responsibly.

Program Leadership

Leaders are trained in Strive’s policies, communication practices, and decision-making protocols. We select staff for their judgment, group-leadership ability, and familiarity with the program setting. Students and families receive preparation guidance before departure.

During the Program

Each trip begins with an orientation covering group expectations, supervision, communication, and what to do if plans change. Leaders conduct regular student check-ins and pay close attention to hydration, nutrition, rest, weather, altitude, transportation, and activity conditions. Plans may be adjusted when circumstances warrant.

Destination Awareness

For both domestic and international programs, Strive monitors authoritative information and local conditions appropriate to the destination. We remain in communication with partners and maintain contingency plans for changes that could affect the group.

Incident Response and Review

If an incident or near miss occurs, leaders follow documented response and communication procedures. We review what happened and use those lessons to strengthen future planning and staff preparation.

No travel program can eliminate every risk. Strive’s goal is to manage risk thoughtfully while giving high school students room to grow, build confidence, and experience meaningful challenge. We welcome questions from students and families about our approach.
